A longhorn heading home at sunset in Arivaca, AZ. (oil on canvas 28" x 22")
The horse in the painting is named Easy. She was "put down" a few months ago because of old age and injuries. She was a sweet, gentle horse and provided my grandchildren with their first riding lessons.

I painted clouds building up over the mountains. They kept changing, but it was fun to paint from real life rather than a photo.

In the woods behind my little school house in East Aurora were about 10 apple trees the children had planted in the early 1900s. Over the years the apple trees were overgrown with maples and many other trees and shrubs. In the fall the ground would be carpeted with the most beautiful tapestry of apples and leaves.
Minnie is another of Kate and Andy's chicken. She led an idyllic life free ranging about their back yard until a Coyote took her away a few weeks ago. Vaya con dios pollito.

I've been able to grow my own still life subjects here in Sunny Tucson. Oranges, lemons, pomegranates and squash. The lemons are from the tree Chris planted in 2001.

I was inspired by the sunlight and shadows. Talavera pottery patterns and colors are so vibrant.

I love to paint portraits, especially portraits of my grandchildren. They are truly an inspiration. This is Ruby on the Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls (before she got to the incredible, soaking mist of the falls).

Dellie is one of Kate and Andy's chickens. Dellie is like a dog or a cat. She doesn't know she's a chicken, but she does lay eggs.
